New Angular Cylindrical Grinder Features Linear Motor, Offers Small Footprint, Big Productivity
Shigiya will introduce the newest member of the GAC series of compact angular cylindrical grinders at the Japan International Machine Tool Fair in October. This cost-effective CNC machine, incorporating a high-speed linear motor and hydrostatic slideway technology, provides a compact alternative for all production lines.
The GACL boasts the smallest footprint and fastest speed in the GAC series. Shigiya developed the grinder to occupy less room on the manufacturing floor, ideal for new shop construction or locations where space constraints limit expansion opportunities. It is extremely adaptable to operations where individual precision components are produced. It is equally well suited to small- and large-series grinding.
The GACL is especially economic due to the large wheel diameter and high spindle power. The stationary workpiece table allows for efficient loading. The Fanuc CNC control unit ensures a high degree of precision and automation flexibility.
One major advantage of the GACL is the absence of a ball screw that can cause wear and backlash. This design improves machine operability and reduces maintenance. In addition, the machine design eliminates the effects of thermal buildup commonly associated with linear drives and table movement.
Like all the products in the GACL series, it is engineered for maximum durability and dimensional accuracy. It is manufactured with rugged cast iron, delivering reliable performance year after year. The combination of innovative new design features and Shigiya's customer-proven technology minimizes operating costs. The overall system design enables easy servicing and preventive maintenance.
The GACL will debut at the Japan International Machine Tool Fair, October 30-November 4 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center.
